The Future of Climbing (2025) [French]

With the rise in the number of private climbing gyms and climbing’s inclusion in the Olympic Games, the sport – once a symbol of the counterculture movement – is currently undergoing a profound transformation while facing a truly unique dilemma. On the one hand, the popularity of indoor climbing continues to increase at an exponential pace; on the other hand, climbing crags all over the world face the threat of closure. What legacy will we leave for future generations? Is outdoor climbing doomed to disappear? What does the future hold for this sport? Starring world-renowned and elite Swiss climber Cédric Lachat, this documentary film offers an international look at a counterculture sport that has recently become a mainstream phenomenon.
