Disney’s Lilo & Stitch could have a better opening at the box office than Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible 8 during the Memorial Day weekend. The competition at the ticket counter is going to be fierce on Friday as two big movies drop together. Both movies are two of the most anticipated movies of 2025 and are expected to do good business at the box office.
Lilo & Stitch predicted to open between $150-160 million at domestic box office
According to a new report, Disney’s movie Lilo & Stitch is expected to have a bumper opening at the box office.
Variety states that following its release, Lilo & Stitch could benefit amazingly from the Memorial Day holiday. Moreover, it could make about $150 million to $160 million at the domestic box office.
Additionally, Deadline reports that at the global box office, Lilo & Stitch will have an opening of a whopping $275 million. These early predictions also suggest Lilo & Stitch will perform better than Disney’s recently released live-action film, Snow White.
Mission: Impossible 8’s box office could open between $75-85 million
Tom Cruise is also arriving with the 8th part of his Mission: Impossible franchise, The Final Reckoning, with the hopes of conquering the box office. However, the early predictions suggest that its opening could be slightly lower than Lilo & Stitch.
At the domestic box office, The Final Reckoning is looking to collect approximately $75 million to $85 million over the Memorial Day weekend. However, at the global office, the opening collection is expected to amount to $210 million. The movie was also recently shown at the 78th Cannes Festival, and the whole team received a standing ovation.
As per Variety, during the movie’s NY premiere, Tom Cruise spoke about the movie. He conveyed to the audience, “This story is a culmination of the last 30 years. All of us came together to will this into being. It’s a great honor and privilege to be here and entertain you.”
